Anyone got any advice for getting gas and having a good chance that it comes off your debit card as late as possible? Yeah... That'd be great...

Run it as credit, some times it takes a couple days longer to post to the account that way.

Cause I am trying to avoid some overdraft fees while still getting to work and back. Payday is in a week...

Yeah, the last couple times I did that it took about the same as debit. My bank is stupidly fast sometimes.

For sure. I know it depends on the station too. I'm not sure who, but some stations take a couple days to post the actual amount, so only $1 is held for that time. Debit or credit, doesn't matter. But I don't know who batches and who takes it ASAP.

Not looking to actually wait a whole week, I'm getting small amounts of money a couple times until then, just hoping I can get gas Monday morning and not have it post until Tuesday or Wednesday.

The overdraft fees, I've had them removed from my account before. I just call the credit union and "omg I'm so sorry I can't believe that happened" and they refund it.

Heh, well I should be all right. I always make it through somehow. Working at a restaurant after work, so we'll see what tips are like. Might buy me a couple gallons.

And yes, just let the USPS know you're shipping gas so they have to be careful...

Yeah, I've had them removed before when I had a legitimate excuse. But after you have them a couple months in a row, they are less nice. But still took it down from over $100 in fees to $35 back in July. That was kind of them. BofA is not known for being nice like credit unions, but I'm stuck with my one checking account cause I can't open any more.

Yeah, I'd like to. If I find one that doesn't check ChexSystems, I think I can get in. My credit score will be up to 700 in a month, and I think that should earn me the right to have a checking account. Maybe?

Nah, they rejected me several years ago because my credit wasn't firmly established. All the local ones (banks and unions) call ChexSystems too, which is going to block me from anything for a few years. For no F'ing good reason.

Sorry you got bumped from them. I've always found the CU's to be more forgiving than banks. But mine is based through Michigan State and I'm alumni so I doubt they'd bump me for anything (and I am lucky that I have good credit)

My city and I think most other cities of some size pass ordinances that require gas stations to sell gas with ethanol in it.

I get it, and I don't mind CU's being a bit more careful. They don't have bailouts and fun things like that to keep them alive when crooks like me come along. It'll serve me better when I "deserve" to get into one.

For all grades, or just 87 or 87 & 89? We are required to sell it for 87 & 89 but 92 is fair game, and that's what the station near work has.

In Michigan there are no labeling requirements. But I know for a fact that I can't get e-free anywhere in the city and I live in the city. I'm not going to drive 10 miles north to get e-free, haha.

Yeah, I pretty much always have it in my mind, which is what keeps me a contented person relative to everyone I know. But then I realize that it sounds like I'm complaining or unsatisfied. I'm not, I just have all these wants. But they don't keep me from being happy. Except on days when I can't afford gas. That affects my happiness. But yeah, I have a DD, my wife has a car, I somehow afford to rent a stupid house every month. Cars might both be a bit broken, but they take us where we need to go...

Yup. I have to, a bit, since I work with computers... but neither of my computers has had love since 2008 either!
